This blog has been created by the Coalition for a New Century to raise awareness about Amma’s visit to Los Angeles from June 16 to 20, 2008. Amma, known as “The Hugging Saint of India,” will be hugging thousands of people at the Hilton LAX — a hotel currently under boycott by UNITE HERE. The hotel has aggressively fought efforts by its employees to gain the right to a fair process to decide whether to have union representation.
The Coalition for a New Century is dedicated to improving the lives of hotel workers on Century Boulevard near Los Angeles International Airport. The Coalition includes prominent religious, education and civic leaders.
